This program aims to have efficient and sustainable land use for food and commercial crop production in Kongwa County. There is a green belt (green belt) including the main valley of Chamkoroma Ward in the Southern Kongwa Zone with a total of 7 villages (Tubugwe Juu, Tubugwe Kibaoni, Manhweta, Mseta Bondeni, Mseta A, Makole, Chamkoroma Kitovuni). The land in this zone and these villages is used below the standard, which causes a shortage of sufficient food in farmers' households and thus a lack of surplus crops to take to the market for income. Most farmers in this zone produce crops for food without using any expertise. Kongwa Integrated Development and Volunteering Organization, the Office of the Member of Parliament in collaboration with development stakeholders and private organizations will implement this participatory Program to Establish Irrigation Basins so that farmers and pastoralists can acquire various knowledge and skills in good agriculture, production of vegetables and fruits, thus increasing income, promoting employment for women, men, and youth. The population of Chamkoroma Ward is residents 18,990, (Me- 9,332; Ke 9,658)
Due to severe water shortages in Kongwa District, residents are unable to engage in full-time farming throughout the year. The program has been designed by KIDVO to provide a permanent solution to water shortages by drilling deep wells with non-salty water (cold water) that will be suitable for agricultural activities, livestock farming, fishing, industrial activities and other
This program aims to identify and develop all wetlands in Kongwa County. The use of these areas will aim to establish modern irrigation schemes to increase productivity in food crop production and the businesses that thrive in the region. The schemes will improve water efficiency by preventing water loss through the construction of ditches, installing modern dams and preventing soil erosion.
The construction of reservoirs for storage during the dry season is a need of the people of Kongwa State. The reservoirs will be dug in food and commercial crop production zones, to facilitate access to water during the dry season for use by farmers and herders as well as other human uses. The water from the reservoirs will also be used to irrigate shade and fruit trees for the maintenance of soil fertility and climate change control.
Many young people have creative talents in preserving Tanzanian culture and also face challenges that prevent them from using their talents to generate income and employment. The KIDVO office will work closely with young people to identify and develop their creativity through art, creativity and sports by building playgrounds, providing various trainings, and distributing sports equipment.
The various sectors we aim to bring about change include health, education, road infrastructure, livestock, good governance, land surveying and issuance of certificates to citizens, distribution of clean cooking energy and electricity in villages and suburbs, economic upliftment of citizens through 10 percent loans provided by the Kongwa District Council as well as loans through farmers' and livestock farmers' associations.
